The word Shiatsu means finger pressure. Japanese Shiatsu Therapy is a traditional manual therapy offering a path to better health and well being. It is based on the theory of acupuncture and incorporates principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology. Japanese Shiatsu Therapy involves applying pressure with fingers, palms and elbows along the pressure points, stimulating the body’s innate ability to heal itself. It is exceptionally effective in reducing stress and alleviating an array of symptoms, including:

  • Headaches and migraines
  • Neck, shoulder and back pain
  • Insomnia
  • Menstrual problems
  • Asthmatic symptoms
  • Digestive problems
  • Injuries and muscular pain

Shiatsu massage has evolved out of 4000 years of oriental medical wisdom. Balance of these energy flows is considered to be essential for health and well being. Those who receive treatment on a regular bases will not only experience a sense of wellness on a physical level, but also benefit from a deep sense of calmness and mental clarity. Being a holistic therapy, it aims to address ones physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
