Techniques and modalities
I work in a holistic way and use traditional evidence-based methods in my practice that includes: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. With a background in research, I am passionate about keeping up-to-date with evidence-based practices and contemporary research/ techniques.
If you are frustrated with a lack of progress or have been unable to work through blocks, EMDR may be very effective for you.
This therapeutic response was founded in 1990 and since then, over 30 randomised control studies have validated its effectiveness. It has also been recognised by the World Health Organisation as a powerful psychological approach to release psychological distress.
My approach is focused on working with my clients to understand the factors contributing to their distress or concern and developing a plan together to address the concern. My particular skills and interests as a Psychologist are in assisting people to address psychological issues such as fears and worries, low mood, trauma, interpersonal relationship difficulties and workplace stress and bullying.
